“XX” — the biological signature of womanhood. Two chromosomes, carrying muted but deafening voices.
Layered with imagery drawn from Jungian psychology—the inner child, the shadow, the persona—Profile XX moves through the tension between the instinctive self and the performative self. It listens to the cracks—where laughter, grief, desire, and freedom still live.
An intergenerational feminist dance work, Profile XX explores the layered development of womanhood as shaped by surveillance, fragmentation, and inherited memory. Performed by a trio spanning childhood to early adulthood, the piece evokes how the female self is continually constructed, masked, and reshaped in response to societal scrutiny and cultural expectation. Inspired by Jungian psychology, the choreography is structured around three archetypes: the inner child, the shadow, and the persona.
